This property had colour in its bones. Originally built in 2001, it wore a bold shade of purple—since tamed by a coat of “sensible” beige. But the spirit of colour never really left. The word Colour Block was a focus for the briefing, and the final design brings that vision to life: solid colour paired with crisp white negative space for a look that’s both graphic and grounded. Laminate countertops are used deliberately and with designer intent—familiar, but elevated. Contrast edge banding ties it all together, creating rhythm, cohesion, and a bold visual punch.
A seamless wash of light brings warmth and joy to the heart of the home at Moore Place. Integrated LED light strips have been embedded into the upper cabinets and corner shelf which seamlessly flow the length of the countertops unbroken by the rangehood; an important detail for the client. A minimalist linear pendant light floats above the island counter clad in black aluminium which echos and draws forward the deep tones of the overhead cabinetry behind. Dimmable controls were specified for all lights to give the client the ability to create many moods; from bright and alive to intimate and cosy.
While the colours in this kitchen are playful and bold, the inner workings are all about performance, durability, and an elevated cooking experience. Blum Tandembox drawers with soft-close Blumotion hardware feature throughout, alongside a Blum Space Tower pantry for effortless access to ingredients, and a Blum ServoDrive Uno bin ejector—because even the mundane should feel a little joyful.
Custom CHROMABLOCK handles by Wood Melbourne tie the bright palette together with confidence and craftsmanship.
Recessed LED lighting has been carefully integrated—an automatic sensor illuminates the pantry when opened, while soft kickboard lighting adds ambient glow at night or extra fill during a full-throttle cook-off.
