Gramere Bathroom

PROJECT BRIEF

Amazing things aren’t reserved for large spaces. In a 1970s apartment block in Brisbane, an underwhelming bathroom sat with far more potential than its four square metres suggested. The client wanted to push boundaries, be brave with colour and texture, and end up with something that felt nothing like the room it replaced. Disko Designs took that brief and ran with it.

The layout was largely constrained by what already existed, but removing the bathtub and flipping the shower’s orientation opened up a far more liveable room. A new vanity with easily accessible drawers was specified, alongside a mirrored shaving cabinet that added further concealed storage for everyday products. The builder bridged the gap between the open shower and new vanity with a half wall, onto which the shower glass was installed, cutting down on cleaning and, as a bonus, creating a generous niche hidden from view of anyone entering the room. It’s a small architectural move that does a lot of quiet work toward the sense of order and calm in the finished space.
