Cosker Bathroom
PROJECT BRIEF

Not every renovation needs to reinvent a space; sometimes, the most powerful move is simply making it right.

This ensuite had all the ingredients: generous proportions, natural light, and a strong architectural context. But in practice, it felt awkward and unresolved. Storage was difficult to access, fixtures conflicted with one another, and a failing waterproofing system meant the room was no longer performing at a fundamental level.

Working within the existing footprint, the design focuses on resolving these functional issues while restoring a sense of architectural cohesion. A simplified, open shower arrangement and reconfigured vanity introduce clarity to the space, allowing it to function more intuitively on a daily basis.

There’s a quiet confidence to the outcome. It doesn’t shout for attention, but instead settles comfortably into the home, considered, functional, and built to last.

SMALL SPACES; BIG STORAGE

Storage was a key driver in this project, with every available opportunity carefully considered and refined. The existing vanity was compromised by door conflicts, limiting access to one side entirely. This was reworked into a more functional arrangement, combining deep drawers with open storage to ensure everything is easily accessible and intuitively placed.

A surface-mounted shaving cabinet provides concealed storage whilst adding a soft arch motif, while integrated niches within the shower and adjacent walls create practical zones for everyday items. Each solution is designed to feel seamless within the space, proving that even within a compact footprint, thoughtful planning can deliver generous and highly usable storage.

We are absolutely thrilled with the design of our new ensuite. Dave took the time to understand the functional issues of our previous space and created a solution that works beautifully for modern living, while respectfully carrying forward the heritage of our 1920s Queenslander home.

His attention to detail was exceptional, with every element thoughtfully considered — from the layout and storage to the finishes and stunning handmade wall sconces by a ceramist in Toowoomba.

The result is a space that feels both luxurious and practical, and a true extension of our home. We couldn’t be happier ...
