The most important thing about a project is that the client is thrilled with the outcome, but it’s also nice to receive external recognition from others in the design industry. I’m so thrilled to have been able to spend time in Sydney in August for the annual KBDi (Kitchen and Bathroom Design Institute) conference. Each year we convene for two days to learn, network and recognise the enormous effect and creativity of designers in our field.
In 2026, Disko Designs was a finalist for 3 projects. Two bathrooms and a kitchen. Each with very different clients, designs and briefs. It was a welcome surprise to be awarded KBDi Winner 2026 – Small Kitchens QLD (under 14m2). It was the cherry on top for the weekend, and very affirming to have others evaluate and acknowledge all the hard work that goes into a project.
